Labor Day is around the corner and what better way to spend the traditional end of summer than finding an adventure near our nation’s capital city? Labor Day offers plenty of attractions to see and do in its surrounding areas, many of which are located near our Craftmark communities.
Experience the Labor Day Parade in Gaithersburg
The annual Labor Day parade in Gaithersburg, Maryland takes place on East Diamond and Russell Avenues in Olde Towne on Sept. 5, 2022, and is a popular event in the D.C. metro area. Visitors can enjoy seeing dance groups, costumed characters, high school marching bands, clowns, horses, antique cars, fire engines, and more. If you live in one of our three Montgomery County communities, this event is practically next door and offers fun for the whole family.
Visit the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Crownsville
A highly popular event that draws people from all over the region, the Maryland Renaissance Festival near Annapolis makes for a great outing for singles, couples, and families alike on Labor Day weekend. Some visitors come for just the day while others spend the weekend enjoying the live entertainment, including music, jousting, and puppet shows, arts and crafts, and terrific food. Many attendees choose to wear family-friendly costumes and become a part of the storyline, which features Henry VIII and his court in 1536. Not able to make the festival on Labor Day? Not a problem as the event runs from Aug. 27, 2022 to Oct. 23, 2022.
