Throughout its colorful history, Lorton housed the Silent Sentinel voter suffragettes, a Nike missile site and even a jazz fest where Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie performed from the baseball diamond. Closed in the mid-1990s, the Lorton Reformatory was a hybrid prison and trade school that, as its name suggests, helped prisoners to “reform” and find a new path.
Founded during the era of Teddy Roosevelt’s administration, Lorton adopted a progressive attitude that was more focused on training and education than punishment. For a fairly long period of time from the 1940s-1960s, Lorton was also the site for an active farm that raised chickens, turkeys and cows, and produced dairy products. Now, the Lorton grounds have been transformed into a stunning master-planned community, where Craftmark Homes’ latest townhomes are building on Lorton’s creative legacy.
Liberty by Craftmark Continues The Tradition
Craftmark Homes offers move-in ready elevator townhomes that blend history, modern amenities and active lifestyle opportunities. With spacious and flexible floor plans, Liberty offers homeowners the potential to customize flexible open areas on the ground level.
A Liberty Townhome Is Perfect for The Holidays
The Ashford floor plan at Liberty has the best of all worlds. The exceptional living spaces with great rooms and fireplaces flow from the well-equipped kitchens to offer multiple entertaining options. With standard ceiling heights ranging from 9’10”-10’, the Craftmark townhomes at Liberty imbue a sense of loft living to each of their three levels.
At the lower entry-level, large flexible spaces can be used for a multitude of purposes, including virtual classrooms or a perfect home office that is set apart from the main living spaces with easy outdoor access. The townhome units at Liberty all feature convenient elevators that service all three levels of the home.
The Liberty Community in Focus
In keeping with the strong community orientation and historical Lorton references, the Liberty lifestyle is oriented around the historic ballpark and Liberty Green, a gathering space for film nights, community events and music performances. Defining what the ideal walking community should be, Liberty connects residents with recreation and shopping experiences that are truly local.
Within easy walking distance is the Fairfax County Giles Run Meadow Park, the community pool, and the community center for yoga and indoor/outdoor workout opportunities. The nearby Laurel Hill public golf club is just a short drive away.
