Alexandria is rich in American history and you can see a part of it on the Preservation Tour at George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate. The 75-minute tour takes place every Thursday and Friday until November 22nd, so take the family for an educational trip through the nation’s best example of an 18th-century estate.
Friday After Work Concert Series
Renowned fiddler Emerald Rae will fill the air with music on September 13th at the Office of Historic Alexandria. Admission is free, but it’s suggested that you chip in $15 to help the musician and venue. And, alcoholic beverages are available. Bring some friends and you’re sure to have a toe-tappin’ good time.
Take it back to the days of fedoras and flappers by attending Sips & Secrets: A Speakeasy Night. It takes place September 14th at the Lee-Fendall House Museum & Garden from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. It’ll be a night of drinks and friends in a fun atmosphere. Don’t be a dewdropper, and get out to this sockdollager.
Montgomery County, Md.
It may sound like an event for pets, but don’t be fooled. The Pawpaw Festival in Rockville on September 7th celebrates the region’s native fruit tree. It’ll be an entertaining day for the entire family, featuring tastings, crafts, face-painting and games. Oh, and some furry friends will be there, too, so if you were hoping for animals, you’re in luck.
Annapolis, Md.
The 52nd annual Seafood Festival is back on September 7th and 8th at Sandy Point State Park. Nosh on some delicious delicacies while overlooking the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. It’ll be a family-friendly and tummy-friendly weekend that’s sure to satisfy.
Tired of the everyday grind of being an adult? Take a break and harken back to the days of sleeping in and having fun. Amps & Ales is on September 7th at the Live! Casino & Hotel parking lot. It’ll have an adult playground, human bowling and drinking games, so go get wild!
Market Space in historic downtown Annapolis will be closed off to accommodate Fall Fest on September 22nd. There’ll be many live bands, delicious food, drinks and face-painting for the kids. The all-day block party promises to be a great time for all who attend.
